I made this weaving from hand-spun wool and horse hair. The horse hair is sentimental to me because it is from the mane of my horse Lena. I designed the inlay sections with the loose wool and horse hair to be reminiscent of the living source of the materials.
I’m fond of horses. They are seriously majestic animals, and I grew up with them in Kansas. I have to admit though… I’m a terrible rider. It’s my sister who is the authentic horse girl. Even still, I enjoy going for trail rides at a manageable pace. And I'll always feel nostalgic about them.
This tapestry is a real nod to the slow movement because there is no mystery where any of my materials originated.
